It has a park where folks play chess, eclectic eateries, coffee shops, bookstores, dive bars and dance clubs on Connecticut Avenue.
Stately buildings line Embassy Row on Massachusetts Avenue.
The Phillips Collection displays Impressionist and modern paintings in a Georgian Revival mansion.
2) Walked down P and 30th streets with diverse boutique shops
3) Reached Georgetown and stopped at a poetic and relaxed coffee shop (not StarBucks)
4) Walked down to Georgetown Harbor where I walked on the boardwalk next to the Potomac River.
5) Observed the birds flying around Theodore Roosevelt Island
6) Walked down K Street passed Washington Circle Park and Farragut Square, two small parks
7) Sat down on a beach at Franklin Park oberving the fountain, gardens, and green space
8) Walked to the City Center (K/tenth street) with luxury shops
9) Walked down M Steet to Chinatown with the Friendship Archway,
one of the largest ceremonial arches outside of China.
10) Walked past the Capital One Arena, a sports and entertainment arena.
Home to Washington Capitals (ice hockey team) and Wizards (basketball team)
11) Walked to Judiciary Square and observed the majestic view of the Capital Hill (US Congress)
12) Walked to Union Station, full of homeless folks. Sad commentary of our times
13) Walked down H Street and saw the streetcar that will be retired soon
14) Walked dwon 15th Street and Tennesse Ave to the United States Capital
Home to the US Senate and House of Representatives
15) Walked down 4th Street to Buzzard Point,
a peninsula at the confluence of the Potomac and Anacostia Rivers.
16) Walked on 2nd Street SW and P street to the Southwest Waterfront including the Wharf and marina.

the iconic Municipal Fish Market, plus restaurants, bars, shops, and hotels.
Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater presents classic and new plays.
17) Walked along Main Avenue to the Washington Monument.
18) Walked up 12th Street NW to Metro Center where we caught the subway.
Metro Center is walking distance to a large number of historical sites, shopping and dining.
It is a major transfer point in the Metrorail system.
Total distance walked in Washington D.C. was 18.3 miles in 6 hours.
